WWII Vet Honor Flight Update: “Shutdown overreach: More guards at WWII memorial than Benghazi
Seriously. Thiswould be funny if it weren’t such a crime. This is such a small, but perfect example of what this administration is willing to do in order to achieve their political aims. They don’t care who they hurt. They don’t even care who the help. They just want to protect their elite status and agenda. Here are the links to the stories with some of the better quotes:
The sign reads, “Because of the federal government shutdown, this National Park Service area is closed, except for First Amendment activities.” So if you want to protest there, you’re good. If you want to quietly remember the dead, get off the damned lawn.
“In all the years I have worked with the National Park Service, first as a volunteer for six years in Richmond where I grew up, then as an NPS employee at the for eight very long years and now enjoyably as managing director for the last 32 years — I have never worked with a more arrogant, arbitrary and vindictive group representing the NPS. I deeply apologize that we have to disappoint you today by being closed but know that we are working while the National Park Service is not — as usual.”
