Obamacare – The Disaster coming to an Exchange near you

In case you missed it, both parties were trying to negotiate an Obamacare exemption for Congress – in secret.  A couple of things.  First – How stupid are the Republicans?  Why would they help the Dems AND indict themselves in the process?  As for the Democrats, they are starting to realize Obama isn’t on another ballot – ever, but they are in 2014.  It won’t be pretty.  Maybe you should have read the damn bill first Nancy.

The New York Times thinks Democrats are getting mighty nervous about the rollout of ObamaCare, too — and angry:

Democratic senators, at a caucus meeting with White House officials, expressed concerns on Thursday about how the Obama administration was carrying out the health care law they adopted three years ago.

Democrats in both houses of Congress said some members of their party were getting nervous that they could pay a political price if the rollout of the law was messy or if premiums went up significantly.

According to the NYT report, the White House has finally started to realize that employers will cut hours in order to avoid the costs of ObamaCare, but apparently have no idea how to address it:

Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Democrat of New Hampshire, who is up for re-election next year, said, ”We are hearing from a lot of small businesses in New Hampshire that do not know how to comply with the law.”

In addition, Mrs. Shaheen said, ”restaurants that employ people for about 30 hours a week are trying to figure out whether it would be in their interest to reduce the hours” of those workers, so the restaurants could avoid the law’s requirement to offer health coverage to full-time employees.

The White House officials ”acknowledged that these are real concerns, and that we’ve got to do more to address them,” Mrs. Shaheen said.

GDP 2.5% and Debt to GDP 105%… Awful…

What an abject failure this administration is on the economic front. Now let’s go back to talking about gay marriage…

Total US Debt To GDP: 105%
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-0…s-debt-gdp-105

Now that we have the first estimate of Q1 GDP growth in both rate of change and absolute current dollar terms ($16,010 billion), we can finally assign the appropriate debt number, which we know on a daily basis and which was $16,771.4 billion as of March 31, to the growth number. The end result: as of March 31, 2013, the US debt/GDP was 104.8%, up from 103% as of December 31, 2012 or a debt growth rate that would make the most insolvent Eurozone nation blush. There was a time when people were concerned about this unsustainable trajectory, but then there was an infamous excel error, and now nobody cares anymore.

Oops! Economic Growth Wasn’t So Great After All

U.S. economic growth regained speed in the first quarter, but not as much as expected, which could heighten fears the already weakening economy could struggle to handle deep government spending cuts and higher taxes

Obama Throws a Tantrum – Your Flight is Delayed

President Obama.  The architect of Sequestration.  The man who has exempted himself from Obamacare and the retirement wealth cap.  The man who jets to campaign events and private golf outings on tax payer funded Air Force 1, is throwing a fit because he was asked to cut $44B out of a $3.6T budget this year.  He is a spoiled child.  Sadly, he is also President.

A couple of facts.

 • 2/3rd of the FAA budget is funded by ticket charges.  You directly fund TWO THIRDS
 • The ‘furloughs’ were spread evenly across all job types at the FAA – worse, evenly across ALL airports.  So SFO and LAX have the same furlough %’s as Podunk airport in Utah.
 • The FAA’s budget is $15.9B.  BILLION.  They were asked to cut $600M.  They spend $300M a year on OFFICE SUPPLIES & TRAVEL but somehow felt the need to furlough flight controllers

They can’t find any money in a $16B budget to cut that doesn’t impact flight times?  A 4% budget cut results in a 10% cut in air traffic controllers?  And you want to tell me this isn’t a political stunt?  This is actually a perfect example of the liberal mind.  ALL government spending is good and necessary.  There is no waste.  None at all.   We must have every penny.  Keep sending us your tax dollars and if you don’t, we will make it hurt.  To quote the President – they are hostage takers.

The portion of those cuts that the Obama Administration specified apply to the FAA is $600 million. They could cut instead the $500 million the FAA is spending on consultants, the $325 million it is spending on supplies and travel, and the Transportation Department’s new $474 million grant program “to make communities more livable and sustainable,” as reported in theWall Street Journal yesterday. Republicans have also already passed legislation in the House, and introduced it in the Senate, to give President Obama complete discretion to make the 2% cuts in spending growth out of the most wasteful federal spending to be found…

So pursuant to that plan, the Obama Administration is trying to manipulate the public by imposing artificial, unnecessary, abusive air travel delays, hoping the easily fooled, Twitter voters will rise in anger to force the Republicans to reverse the sequester cuts, and increase taxes yet again, after all. If this was still the real America of free and independent people, they would rise in fury instead and demand that the President be impeached for such abusive, dishonest manipulation of the public he is supposed to be serving. What President Obama is doing this week is an attack on the American people, for cynical political gain.

The left won’t rush to judgement… unless it’s about the tea party

The left never ceases to disgust me.  I stumbled over an oped by a college professor calling for an Internal Investigation over the arrest of the two Boston Terrorists for… excessive force.  They killed 3 and injured 187 the day of the blast.  They killed a MIT police office in his car and critically wounded a Boston police officer in a shoot out.  excessive force?  Fort Hood was labeled work force violence because the Obama administration can’t or won’t come to terms that it was jihad.  That is criminal.   The left is asking us to not rush to judgement on the motives of the Boston bombing – how different their tune would be if it were a right wing group that was responsible.  Professor nut job references a photo of the dead brother and tells of how it upset her to see.

Well Ms Moral Compass, why don’t you google the unedited picture of Jeff Bauman.  The man who identified the younger brother had his picture taken in a wheelchair as his rescuers rushed him to care.  The picture, an iconic one of the day only shows Mr. Bauman from the knees up.  That is because there is nothing but bone below his left knee and his right leg is missing.  The terrorist she references was killed in a shoot out with police.  He was trying to kill them.  His brother tried to run them over with a car after they ran out of ammo, but ran over his brother instead.  Terrorists mean to do us harm.  We need to stop pretending they don’t.

I am including a portion of her blog so you can decide for yourself.  I am also including a link to a much better article : http://www.americanthinker.com/2013/04/i_saw_something_so_im_saying_something.html

From our Education System:

Now we have captured the two terrorists from Chechnya who come from the troubled region that is Muslim, but we cannot understand their motives, not yet.  And Obama encourages us to refrain.

This said, the mortuary pictures of the older brother of the two are extremely disturbing, raising questions as to whether the Boston Police Department captured him with too much force. I understand the explanation offered by Katharine Q. Seelye, William H. Rashbaum, and Michael Cooper.  Yet, it does not ring true.  A picture is worth a thousand words that will keep our ears ringing as we recoil from this photo.  Images have a way of searing themselves into our memory in a way that can’t be undone.  We have an emotional memory, not just a rational one that is exemplified by words.

We accept difference, as a nation, and we should champion our greatest strength – inclusivity – at these extreme moments if we want the character of the United States not to be judged harshly by the global community.  Once all the adrenaline subsides, I hope we will all be witnesses at the Internal Affairs investigation about undue force.

Obama Fizzles Out…

I think you will see a steady decline of the stature of obama within the dumb masses and maybe even the media.  Typical of a second term President but I think it will be far far more profound given the ridiculous pedestal the main stream media placed him on.

http://www.americanthinker.com/2013/04/m-obama_fizzles_out.html

Right from the start of his 2008 campaign, the MSM gave Obama the star treatment. He was their main event. He was billed as a transformational figure — a visionary who would (1) unify the country and (2) lead us to a fairer economic prosperity and (3) bring us respect abroad in a world of lessened tensions.

(1) The great unifier? Obama the great unifier who is above the fray of politics-as-usual? In fact, it is readily apparent that he is just the reverse. When it comes to getting out the vote, it’s identity politics in spades (Okay — choke on that). Out comes the community organizer — resentment mongering, class warfare, evil bankers.

(2) Leading us to a fairer economic prosperity?  The domestic policies he has put forward so far have all the innovative cachet of a plain old tax-and-spend left-wing Democrat. They might as well be the initiatives of a Carter or even a Johnson. How does Obama’s war on poverty differ from President Johnson’s? Granted the level of nastiness and coercion, especially from Holder’s DOJ, has risen to a Mafia-like shakedown level but the economics are basically the same. His latest “compromise” budget proposal has even drawn ire from both sides of the aisle. If his own party is willing to take him to task he has definitely lost his transformational status.

(3) Respect abroad in a world of lessened tensions?  As regards his foreign policy, which was to create “mutual respect” between the Islamic world and the U.S., even Thomas Friedman of the NYT admits that the Arab Spring and Obama support of the Muslim Brotherhood is a bust. And as for in general improving the image or status of the U.S. abroad by leading from behind — well, it doesn’t seem that Russia, China, or North Korea have quite got the respect part. What the president has accomplished is alienating and diminishing our status with former allies. To wit, the recent snub of the legacy of Margaret Thatcher which just makes him seem small and unpresidential.

It’s hard to spin any of this into superstar status. It has become well-nigh impossible to see anything special or visionary about Obama’s presidency. Clearly, he is on the path from being seen as a transcendent, transformational leader to being seen as a humdrum, run-of-the mill progressive with all the charisma of a Dukakis. Next we will see a cartoon from Ramirez with Obama’s head sticking out of tank emblazoned with “tax-and-spend.”

So the MSM is stuck. The CPA spin is looney and their own spin has unraveled. For the MSM, Obama might as well be Humpty Dumpty. All the MSM horses and the MSM men can’t put the spin back together again. The MSM is locked into a position where Obama is neither demon nor savior. There is no story there. They are stuck with their Beau Brummell in the White House looking more and more like just another hackneyed leftist politician of the Carter-Mondale variety who never really had anything new to offer. The MSM is left with a red face and a would-be in the attic.

Flight Delays – Political Stunt

Let’s see.  We operated last year just fine with less money than we will have this year… but this year we cut $44B (prorated) out of a $3+T federal budget,  so, you know, sequester is causing these flight delays.  Look at the press release from Delta.  Recognize a pattern in the airports mentioned?  New York, New Jersey, California, Illinois and Philadelphia – could these states/city be MORE BLUE?  Come on guys, give me a break.  Shameful.  Absolutely shameful.

They included a link to ‘dontgroundamerica.com’ as well.  On that site it says: “The FAA furloughing thousands of air traffic controllers and will purposely delay thousands of flights every day.  The FAA’s unnecessary and reckless action will disrupt air travel for millions of Americans, cost jobs and threatens to ground the US economy to a halt.  It doesn’t have to be that way.  The FAA can make other cost cuts, and deem air traffic controllers ‘essential employees’.

When the furloughs began on Sunday morning, Delta Airlines put the following statement on their website to voice their disappointment:

On behalf of our customers and employees, Delta is disappointed that furloughs of Federal Aviation Administration personnel will result in delays and cancellations across the national air transportation system. The FAA has advised Delta that furlough-driven delays are most likely to occur at the following 10 airports:

New York-LaGuardia
New York-JFK
Newark Liberty
Philadelphia
Fort Lauderdale
Chicago O’Hare
Chicago Midway
San Francisco
Los Angeles (LAX)
San Diego

Delta will continue to do everything possible to mitigate these delays for our customers. As always, we encourage customers to check their flight status at delta.com or on the Fly Delta app before arriving at the airport.

Taxation is theft — so why do Americans put up with it?

I ask this all the time.  I think it comes down to the basic fact that there are now more takers than there are makers.   More people are in the wagon and fewer people are pulling the wagon.  Yet the people pulling the wagon are the problem.  In other words… Bizarro World..

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2013/04/18/taxation-is-theft-so-why-do-americans-put-up-with-it/

Social Security taxes and income taxes have dogged us all since their institution during the last century, and few politicians have been willing to address these ploys for what they are: theft.  Texas Gov. Rick Perry caused a firestorm among big-government types during the Republican presidential primaries last year when he called Social Security a Ponzi scheme. He was right. It’s been a scam from its inception, and it’s still a scam today.

It was also intended to cause voters to become dependent on Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Democrats. FDR copied the idea from a system established in Italy by Mussolini. At the time, the average life expectancy of Americans was 61 years of age, but Social Security didn’t kick in until age 65. Thus, the system was geared to take money from the average American worker that he would never see returned.

Today, the best one can hope to receive from Social Security is dollars with the buying power of 75 cents for every dollar contributed. That makes Social Security worse than a Ponzi scheme. You can get out of a Ponzi investment. You can’t get out of Social Security. Who would stay with a bank that returned only 75 percent of one’s savings?

Here’s an example you’ve heard before. You’re sitting at home at night, and there’s a knock at the door. You open the door, and a guy with a gun pointed at you says: “Give me your money. I want to give it away to the less fortunate.” You think he’s dangerous and crazy, so you call the police. Then you find out he is the police, there to collect your taxes.

Yet, the imposition of a federal income tax is more than just taking from those who work and earn and giving to those who don’t. At its base, it is a terrifying presumption. It presumes that we don’t really own our property. It accepts the Marxist notion that the state owns all the property and the state permits us to keep and use whatever it needs us to have so we won’t riot in the streets. And then it steals and uses whatever it can politically get away with. Do you believe this?

There are only three ways to acquire wealth in a free society. The inheritance model occurs when someone gives you wealth. The economic model occurs when you trade a skill, a talent, an asset, knowledge, sweat, energy or creativity to a willing buyer. And the mafia model occurs when a guy with a gun says: “Give me your money or else.”

Which model does the government use?  Why do we put up with this?
