Tee hee…. it’s only a matter of time until the most vocal supporters of Obama and this asinine bill will come to grips that it’s going to hurt them every way possible. More money… less services… Enjoy!
Union leaders say many of the law’s requirements will drive up the costs for their health-care plans and make unionized workers less competitive. Among other things, the law eliminates the caps on medical benefits and prescription drugs used as cost-containment measures in many health-care plans. It also allows children to stay on their parents’ plans until they turn 26.
To offset that, the nation’s largest labor groups want their lower-paid members to be able to get federal insurance subsidies while remaining on their plans. In the law, these subsidies were designed only for low-income workers without employer coverage as a way to help them buy private insurance.
Top officers at the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the AFL-CIO and other large labor groups plan to keep pressing the Obama administration to expand the federal subsidies to these jointly run plans, warning that unionized employers may otherwise drop coverage.
But, but, they can’t – that’s the whole point, or didn’t they read that part too? Doesn’t matter – to them it is now unfair, nay “unacceptable”:
“We are going back to the administration to say that this is not acceptable,” said Ken Hall, general secretary-treasurer for the Teamsters, which has 1.6 million members and dependents in health-care plans. Other unions involved in the push include the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union and Unite Here, which represents service and other workers.
John Wilhelm, chairman of Unite Here Health, the insurance plan for 260,000 union workers at places including hotels, casinos and airports, recalls standing next to Barack Obama at a rally in Nevada when he was a 2008 presidential candidate.
“I heard him say, ‘If you like your health plan, you can keep it,’ ” Mr. Wilhelm recalled. Mr. Wilhelm said he expects the administration will craft a solution so that employer health-care plans won’t be hurt. “If I’m wrong, and the president does not intend to keep his word, I would have severe second thoughts about the law.”
The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 of Countryside, Ill., which represents construction workers and insures about 65,000 people, is also examining whether some lower-earning workers would eventually be better off leaving the union-sponsored plan and instead getting federally subsidized insurance.
“I’ve told my members, as this evolves, your health care will not look like it does today,” said James Sweeney, president and business manager of the local. “I have to cut it back.” tee hee
I have never thrown the term “Marxist” around loosely but the proof is there if you open your eyes. The “Marxist” transition is exactly what we are going through. Not sure if there are enough Patriots left to fight this battle… everyone who loves this country is going to be demonized by those who hate it.
Read this great article and substitute the name “Democrat Party”. You will see without question that this is exactly what we are living. Quiet Tyranny is taking hold. Sad.
The Collectivist Mind Game, Part 1: Demonizing the Non-Compliant
Thus, the government’s propagandistic narrative would establish the illusion of a society divided into three major classes: the ruling government class, endowed with benevolent powers to guide or punish; the majority class of hapless losers, whose survival depended on the government’s largesse and protection; and an unquantifiable class of demonized mysterious enemies of the government and, by extension, of the people, who would be the perceived culprits of all failures, hardships, and misery of the little guys’ everyday existence. The majority class would itself be divided into an assortment of narrow-interest groups, held together only by the glue of government’s redistributive, pacifying and equalizing powers, as well as by their shared hostility towards the designated “enemies.”
The prevailing feelings in such a society would be the collectivist fervor, envy of individual achievers, fear of chaos in the absence of the government’s protection, hatred of anti-government elements, and hope for a better future once all the hidden enemies are unveiled and eliminated. In the end, the self-preservation of modern-day totalitarianism is ensured, not so much by the secret police with its army of snitches and brutal enforcers, as by modern technologies of psychological manipulation through the media, education, and entertainment.
Statists, of course, would like to have everything shared — except their power. In free democracies they always demand their share of political power — and always get what they want. However, once they are in power, they keep it to themselves and demonize the opposition. The Marxist ideal of Communism is an altruistic collectivist society of the future, in which there will be no need for government, family, or private property. Freed from capitalist exploitation, people are expected to unleash their full potential and create unprecedented material abundance. The selfish notion of the pursuit of individual happiness will wither away. There will be no money, no greed, no deprivation, and, therefore, no crime. However, since a society can’t directly leap from capitalism into communism, Marx reasoned that a dictatorial socialist state would be a necessary transition in order to develop the required material base, help to spread the revolution around the world, and to condition the people’s minds by uprooting greed and selfishness (or to eliminate those individuals who can’t be conditioned).
A disparaging verse at the bottom describes who the enemies are:
The wealthy landowner
The kulak (a pejorative term for a wealthy farmer who “exploits” hired labor)
The clergy (a Russian Orthodox Priest)
The bourgeois press (a non-compliant, independent journalist)
The capitalist (a banker, industrialist, merchant)
The Menshevik (a political opponent from a different communist faction)
The surviving remnants of the pre-revolutionary law enforcement and the military
Note this Lenin quote on another dehumanizing poster: “The kulaks are the most bestial, brutal and savage exploiters, who in the history of other countries have time and again restored the power of the landlords, tsars, priests and capitalists.” (Full quote in Russian) The demonization of the kulaks laid the groundwork for their subsequent annihilation. Other non-compliant citizens were dealt with in a similar fashion.
This won’t shock anyone…. with a brain…
Obama doesn’t care about jobs in the slightest… he want’s more people/ looters/ voters on the Government dole.. that’s what will keep him in power…
President Barack Obama’s Jobs Council hit a notable milestone on Thursday: one year without an official meeting. The 26-member panel is also set to expire at the end of the month, unless Obama extends its tenure.
The group, formally known as the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, last convened on Jan. 17, 2012 for a White House session where it presented formal recommendations to Obama. It was the panel’s fourth official meeting since it was created in early 2011.
A wonderful insensitive conservative mind. The leader of the Church of the Painful Truth. His last show is today then Herman Cain will be doing the show. Neal will be missed.
To be honest .. the final retirement decision wasn’t made until last November 7th. When I saw that the voters in this country had reelected this unqualified disaster to rule (his words) over our Republic for four more years, I knew that was it for me. Obama is a destroyer. A sneering, menacing, arrogant destroyer – and I’m not going to let him destroy the rest of my life. I simply an NOT going to be one of his “tax the rich” victims.
The solution is simple.
Minimal income, minimal income taxes. Live off your investments. I’m ready. From my standpoint, Dear Ruler, your tax increase reduced revenues. It certainly didn’t increase them. I have many personal friends who are in exactly the same boat and have made the same decision. I don’t belong to Obama, and I’m not going to work 50% of every working day for him. I’ve escaped — as of noon today.
First of all, I’ll be doing daily two-minute commentaries for WSB. They will run at 8:45 am and 6:45 pm, and I promise the same dose of insensitivity in those commentaries as I’ve been delivering in my show for these many years. Those commentaries, by the way, will be available to affiliate radio stations if they should want them.
Secondly .. There’s Twitter. Twitter will now become the main platform for my interaction with my former listeners. That’s the best place for us to keeping touch. You can follow me at @talkmaster. I promise you’ll enjoy it.
Nealz Nuze? Yes … we’ll be keeping that up. I will constantly be posting material. Whenever I get ticked off at something, you can bet that I’ll sit down at the computer and put my feelings on “paper.”
Columns? Yes … I’ll be writing for Townhall.com. Be sure to check in there. I’ll Tweet the link every time something appears.
Fill-in? You got it! I will be Herman Cain’s regular fill-in host. Sean Hannity has said that I’ll have the opportunity to fill in for him as well. There are others, but best not to name them now.
I’m joining the folks at FairTax.org to start promoting the FairTax again. Keep your eye on Twitter and Nealz Nuze to see what’s going on.
So .. there you go. I’m hardly disappearing. I’m just clearing out much more extra time for me and The Queen.
What’s the point? I mean, when the GOP can’t even cut pork out of a spending increase bill disguised as a relief bill. This should have been easy. Approve relief funding, dump the pork. Instead members of the GOP side with DEMS and help them pass the pork. As one article said, this is the new voting block. Obama looks at this and KNOWS they have no back bone to cut spending when they won’t lift a finger to prevent NEW wasteful spending. And what is going on the Paul Ryan these days? Did his calculator break while he was on the campaign trail? This is a disgrace. We continue to borrow from future generations to spend money we don’t have.
WHEN DID GOVERNMENT BECOME THE ONLY ENTITY AND OPTION? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PRIVATE SECTOR. CHANGE THE DEBATE.
Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-SC) sponsored an amendment that would have administered a 1.63% cut to discretionary programs to fund the $17 billion baseline bill. “The time has come and gone in this nation where we can walk in here one day and spend nine or 17 or 60 billion dollars and not think about who’s paying for it,” said Rep. Mulvaney.
However, the measure was defeated 162-258. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) voted against the Mulvaney amendment; Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) voted for it. Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee Hal Rogers (R-KY) blasted the effort to offset spending, saying it would involve “devastating slash and burn cuts” that would “totally discriminate, cutting the good and the bad.”
On top of the $17 billion bill, Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ) offered another amendment that added $33.7 billion to the aid package. That measure passed 228-192, with 20 Republicans from unaffected areas voting for it. As Human Events notes, the Frelinghuysen amendment was loaded with superfluous spending, including “$500 million for weather forecasting and to help create an ocean zoning plan–the later one of Obama’s pet projects. Also included are $10 million for FBI salaries $2 billion for road construction across the country, as well as funding for the Head Start program, roof repairs at the Smithsonian, and $150 million for fisheries across the country.”
Dear Mr. Imperial President – A quick lesson in how a Government of the People, by the People and for the People works
Marco Rubio: Making matters worse is that President Obama is again abusing his power by imposing his policies via executive fiat instead of allowing them to be debated in Congress. President Obama’s frustration with our republic and the way it works doesn’t give him license to ignore the Constitution.
Just a reminder – the Constitution was written with checks and balances specifically so a tyrant couldn’t unilaterally impose policies via Fiat. The fact the President is frustrated with our republic should frighten every American to their core.
