US Embassy Attacked, Ambassador and Three Others Killed on 9/11 Anniversary – State Department Apologizes, Twice
I am so disgusted I don’t know where to start. I need to take a deep breath:
- 4 Americans were killed on American soil
- An American flag was removed from the US Embassy, burned and an Islamic flag flown in its place
- There were coordinated attacks on US embassies on the anniversary of 9/11 – Cairo, Egypt, and Benghazi, Libya
- The State Department issued two apologies to the attackers, one before as they were massing and one after the violence
- The United States in effect, condemned free speech
- Libyan security forces in charge of protecting the American consulate, instead guided the mob to his position
- The NY Times has the story on page 4. No mention the attacks were on the US Embassies nor that a Ambassador was killed
- Obama turned down an invitation to meet with the Prime Minister of Israel, but accepted an invitation to appear on the Letterman show
- Obama condemned Romney for taking a hard stand against the terrorist attacks BEFORE actually condemning the attacks
I will let Sarah Palin have the first word here:
If he (President Obama) doesn’t have a “big stick” to carry, maybe it’s time for him to grow one.
Perfect, thank you Sarah. Stay with me, This is going to be a longer post as I have several things to share with you today. First:
As the restless, masked throngs gathered outside the walls yesterday, U.S. Embassy officials issued a statement surrendering America’s unapologetic defense of free speech.
“We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of others,” the embassy statement said.
You have to read it twice to believe it. Then you still cannot believe it. But, yes, your embassy, representing your government, funded by your tax dollars, just sided with the thieving rioters. Yes, your government just established the first limit on free speech we have ever known. Your government just backed down and condemned those who would exercise free speech and free expression of religion over a thuggish mob that would cut your entrails out before it would let you speak your mind.
I’m outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi. It’s disgraceful that the Obama Administration’s first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.
Ross Kaminsky on American Spectator asks:
Wow, the hateful, violent radicals must be shaking in terror at the fearsome response of the world’s only superpower. An “unjustified breach”! Sounds like something that needs a little Preparation H.
But in fact, it needed a few U.S. Marines with HK416s and a set of rules of engagement designed to actually deter those who would do us harm.
These radicals are made that much braver by the obvious timidity and pro-Muslim bias of Barack Hussein Obama. Can you imagine what the Islamic world is thinking after we react to attacks on our embassies with soft words and apologies on the same day that it is reported that Barack Obama won’t meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu because it’s just too inconvenient for Obama’s campaign schedule?…My immediate question is this: Why did the first terrorist to touch our flag not have his head blown off? Or perhaps: Why did the first terrorist to touch our flag not receive a “warning shot” to the arm or leg, and the second terrorist, who presumably was not impressed by the admonition, not then have his head blown off?
Apparently President Obama can’t see Egypt and Libya from his house. On the anniversary of the worst terrorist attacks ever perpetrated on America, our embassy in Cairo and our consulate in Benghazi were attacked by violent Islamic mobs. In Cairo, they scaled the walls of our embassy, destroyed our flag, and replaced it with a black Islamic banner. In Benghazi, the armed gunmen set fire to our consulate and killed an American staff member. The Islamic radicals claim that these attacks are in protest to some film criticizing Islam. In response to this, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo issued a statement that was so outrageous many of us thought it must be a satire. The Embassy actually apologized to the violent mob attacking us, and it even went so far as to chastise those who use free speech to “hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.” (Funny, the current administration has no problem hurting the “religious feelings” of Catholics.)
It’s about time our president stood up for America and condemned these Islamic extremists. I realize there must be a lot on his mind these days – what with our economy’s abysmal jobless numbers and Moody’s new warning about yet another downgrade to our nation’s credit rating due to the current administration’s failure to come up with a credible deficit reduction plan. And, of course, he has a busy schedule – with all those rounds of golf, softball interviews with the “Pimp with the Limp,” and fundraising dinners with his corporate cronies. But our nation’s security should be of utmost importance to our Commander-in-chief. America can’t afford any more “leading from behind” in such a dangerous world. We already know that President Obama likes to “speak softly” to our enemies. If he doesn’t have a “big stick” to carry, maybe it’s time for him to grow one.
