54% of Americans: Obama Doesn’t Deserve to Be Reelected

A newly released poll from the Hill indicates that President Obama and the Democrats face strong headwinds as they start their convention. The poll shows that, by a margin of 14 percentage points (54 to 40 percent), likely voters do not think Obama’s job performance merits reelection.  The basis of this assessment seems clear:  By a margin of 21 points, likely voters think the nation is in “worse condition” (52 percent), rather than “better condition” (31 percent), than it was four years ago.
